Rowlands Pharmacy welcomes change to pharmacy inspection regulations

22nd October 2013

Rowlands Pharmacy has responded positively to new changes to pharmacy sector regulations designed to achieve greater transparency and simplicity.

As part of efforts to create a more universal strategy, the General Pharmaceutical Council will become the central regulator accountable for pharmacy inspections, except in specific circumstances requiring stringent guidelines.

This move is aimed at reducing the amount of red tape and bureaucracy with which businesses need to cope, with the legislation set to come into effect by the end of 2014.

A spokesperson for Rowlands Pharmacy said this is good news for the industry, while underlining the importance of ensuring that pharmacies understand the implications and benefits involved.

The representative said: "By creating a transparent programme that everyone can adhere to, we can improve our strengths and focus our efforts on any potential areas of weaknesses whilst striking a healthy balance."

This comes after a statement from the company last month suggested that pharmacists could play a larger role in addressing the excessive workloads being faced by British GPs at present.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801652265-ADNFCR
