Royal Canin launches new can packaging for cat food

23rd August 2013

Royal Canin has announced that its range of feline wet diet products are to be sold in 195g cans instead of alutrays in future.

The new canned format will be phased in as stocks are replenished and will offer greater convenience and ease of use and storage, while their branding and packaging will also be clearer.

Research shows that more than three-quarters of pet owners feed their cats wet food, with 48.2 per cent of these products being sold in a canned format.

Despite the change to the packaging, the products will retain the same recipes and nutrient blends as before, consisting of a loaf or mousse that complements the texture of the chunks in gravy found in equivalent pouched diets.

Ian Williams, a small animal vet at Royal Canin, said: "The range is extensive, which allows owners to follow a vet's nutritional recommendations without changing their pets' feeding habits – an excellent way to increase compliance."

Royal Canin's range of wet cat nutritional products offer a number of benefits to felines, such as better digestion, a shinier coat and anti-ageing qualities, with variants on offer for both adult cats and kittens.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801629160-ADNFCR
