Royal Canin to offer online weight management training course

25th October 2017

Royal Canin has announced plans for a new online weight management training course to coincide with the launch of a new web-based tool for assessing obesity in pets.

At the London Vet Show on November 16th, the company will host a roundtable event called Tackling Fat Cats in London, as well as opening registration for the training course, which will be offered free of charge to delegates.

Comprising eight hours of continuous professional development (CPD), the course consists of six modules, covering the nature of obesity, body condition scoring, feeding for weight loss diets, the practicalities of running a weight loss clinic, and the importance of teamwork.

Those that finish the course within a three-week time frame will be invited to complete the second stage, allowing them to become a Royal Canin Weight Management Counsellor using the new Weight Management Assist online tool.

The web-based service provides ideal weight and calorie intake calculations, diet recommendations, costs per day and body condition score estimates.

Louise Brennan, a weight management specialist at Royal Canin, said: "Our new Weight Management Online tool combines our many years of research into understanding obesity in cats and dogs to deliver a series of unique training tools that are flexible to meet practices' needs."
