Royal Pharmaceutical Society elects assembly chair

1st August 2011

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has elected Martin Astbury as chair and John Gentle as treasurer of the assembly.

Mr Astbury, who was re-elected to the role he has held since October last year, said he was "delighted" to receive the vote of confidence from RPS members once again.

He added: "Delivery of outcomes and services will determine the future success of the society and I know that with consensus and teamwork we can deliver."

Meanwhile, Mr Gentle spoke of his desire to see the RPS become "even stronger than it is now" over the next 12 months.

He pointed out that over 30,000 pharmacists chose to join the professional body in March 2011, demonstrating the organisation's enduring appeal.

Last month, members voted in favour of creating a new category of pharmaceutical scientist within the society from October this year. A total of 8,806 members voted in the ballot, representing a turnout of 24.8 percent.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800640492-ADNFCR
