RPSGB praises standards of expertise in pharmacy sector

17th February 2010

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) has hailed the high standards of expertise in the UK pharmacy profession following a recent assessment.

Results from the first wave of the body’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) assessment programme revealed that more than 80 per cent of entries achieved an “excellent” rating, while 18 per cent qualified in the “good” category.

It also expressed satisfaction over the fact that 80 per cent of the records requested for the review were submitted within the designated time frame.

Janet Flint, the society’s lead for CPD, said she was “pleased” with the findings and underlined the importance of CPD in maintaining standards.

She said the assessment programme means that “the public can be reassured that it will receive the first class professional pharmacy practice it expects and deserves.”

This week, the body also issued a warning about the online sale of counterfeit pharmaceutical products and introduced a logo-based verification system for genuine medical providers.
