Sanofi and Institut Pasteur present annual health research awards

5th November 2015

Sanofi has announced the recipients of this year's Sanofi-Institut Pasteur Awards, an annualised scheme organised in partnership with the Institut Pasteur.

Awarded for a fourth year in a row, the prize scheme saw four respected researchers rewarded for their works in two major fields for global health: tropical and neglected diseases, and immunology.

Drs Marco Vignuzzi and Mohamed-Ali Hakimi were awarded in the junior category for their work on viral mutations and toxoplasmosis respectively, while the UK's Professor Keith Matthews was recognised in the mid-career category for his work on sleeping sickness.

Finally, Professor Emil Unanue was named as the laureate in the senior category for his work on the recognition of proteins by the immune system.

Olivier Brandicourt, chief executive officer of Sanofi, said: "The therapeutic areas in which the researchers were attributed today by the Sanofi-Institut Pasteur Awards remind us that a lot still needs to be accomplished in the field of global health."

Earlier this week, Sanofi announced a new cancer immunotherapy collaboration with BioNTech, which will advance their knowledge in the field of immuno-oncology.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801805031-ADNFCR
