Sanofi-Aventis launches communication initiative for its humanitarian sponsorship
Sanofi-Aventis has launched a communication initiative to highlight the humanitarian sponsorship activities it has undertaken for more than 20 years.
The pharmaceutical group has unveiled the Pathways of Solidarity exhibition and book which documents the actions taken by men and women who put their lives at the service of others.
Sanofi-Aventis explains that the book’s chapters each open with a vision of solidarity undertaken by men and women from Nelson Mandela to Jacques Attali (president of PlaNet Finance).
Meanwhile, the exhibition showcases photographs from Gil Corre which aim to provide insight on the many different ways in which citizens of developing countries take on work to the benefit of others.
The communication initiative by Sanofi-Aventis is underlined by the work carried out by its humanitarian sponsorship department which handles 47 direct solidarity programmes as well as other sponsorship activities run by other group affiliates.
In 2007, these programmes involved over two million people in over 50 countries undertaking projects from healthcare to education and social welfare support.
In addition, donations of Sanofi-Aventis medicines and vaccines benefited communities in nearly 70 different countries last year.
Earlier this month, Sanofi-Aventis and the International Union Against Cancer announced the launch of 25 programmes in 16 countries worldwide designed to fight childhood cancers.
