Sanofi launches new diabetes education app for smart devices

8th September 2014

Sanofi has announced the launch of an education gaming app that will help children to learn more about type 1 diabetes.

Entitled Mission T1D, the app is available for iOS, Android and PC devices and features games and quizzes to help children understand how the disease functions and the best ways of managing the condition.

It can also be used in a classroom setting, offering teachers a way of improving diabetes education that can be easily incorporated into the curriculum. The app has been designed to convey key health messages in a fun and engaging way.

Currently, 94.2 percent of infants, children and young people with diabetes do not receive all of the care processes recommended by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence, suggesting better education is needed.

Rebecca Reeve, head of professional relations at Sanofi Diabetes, said: "We are committed to making a difference to the lives of children who are struggling with the challenge of managing diabetes, especially in an environment where they can easily be made to feel different."

This comes after the firm allied with Ayogo Health and Diabetes UK to launch another diabetes management app entitled Monster Manor last year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801747115-ADNFCR
