Sanofi Pasteur forges rabies alliance
Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccines division of Sanofi-aventis, has entered into a partnership with the Alliance for Rabies Control in a bid to raise awareness of the condition.
The firm is a sponsor of World Rabies Day, which takes place annually on September 28th and is the only worldwide campaign aimed at working towards the prevention and control of the disease.
According to statistics from the World Health Organization, rabies kills one person every ten minutes.
Deborah Briggs, executive director of the Alliance for Rabies Control, said: “The fight against rabies requires a global and strong commitment from all health partners. The alliance works with public and private partners to take action, share information and raise funds to prevent rabies.”
In other Sanofi Pasteur news, the division received a further order for its H1N1 vaccine from the department of health and human services last month, bringing the total number it will supply to the US government up to 75.3 million doses.
