Sartorius agrees takeover of software company Umetrics
Sartorius has announced the acquisition of the software company MKS Instruments through its subgroup Sartorius Stedim Biotech.
The acquired company is more commonly known as Umetrics and is a leading specialist in data analytics software for modeling and optimising biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing processes.
Umetrics has been collaborating with Sartorius for around five years, with the latter now agreeing a $72.5 million (58.24 million pounds) purchase price for a business that anticipates full-year sales revenue of around $15 million for 2017, as well as a significant double-digit operating profit margin.
Sartorius chief executive officer Joachim Kreuzburg said: "Through the five companies that we have acquired over the past nine months, we have further extended the footprint of both our group divisions in biopharmaceutical applications considerably."
This comes in the same week that Sartorius completed the acquisition of US-based Essen BioScience, a provider of novel real-time live-cell imaging and analysis systems.
Due to the consolidation of these acquisitions, the Sartorius Group is raising its guidance for the current fiscal year and now expects its sales revenues for the full year to grow by about 12 to 16 percent.
