Sartorius and Science Magazine to launch new scientific award scheme
Sartorius has allied with Science Magazine to launch the new Sartorius and Science Prize for Regenerative Medicine and Cell Therapy.
The annual award scheme is designed to reward scientists who have made notable achievements in basic or translational research in these areas, with all scientists who have earned a PhD or an MD within the past ten years potentially eligible.
Applicants will be invited to submit an essay on regenerative medicine, cell therapy, gene therapy or immunotherapy, as well as on materials or tissue engineering, to be in with a chance of winning $25,000 (19,400 pounds) and to have their essay printed in Science Magazine.
Winners will also receive a Sartorius product package, while runners-up will be given prize money of $5,000.
Gerry MacKay, member of Sartorius' executive committee and executive vice-president of marketing, sales and services for its lab products and services division, said: "We are excited to enable medical progress in these fields, both with our technologies and this award. The prize will be conferred as a token of appreciation to scientists."
The application deadline for the inaugural awards will be October 1st 2017, with the ceremony to be held in 2018 in Goettingen, Germany.
