Sartorius opens new production site in Gloucestershire
Sartorius has officially opened a new plant at its Stonehouse site in Gloucestershire at a special ceremony attended by nearly 100 guests.
The new building covers approximately 4,800 sq m, with around 110 employees currently working at this facility in production and research and development roles. Its launch more than doubles the firm's local production capabilities in Stonehouse.
Sartorius develops and manufactures a variety of single-use plastic products in Stonehouse, including filtration units and laboratory-scale bioreactors. The company has spent nine million euros (7.58 million pounds) on developing the new plant, which will also serve as a competence centre for designing and manufacturing plastic components.
Chris Biddell, managing director of the company's UK subsidiary Sartorius Stedim Lab, said: "The plant incorporates the latest technology and significantly expands our production capacity. At the same time, we have built it with an eye toward the future, so that we will have sufficient space to once more double our production."
The company also operates UK sites in Royston, Epsom and Glasgow and employs nearly 500 people nationwide.
