Sartorius partners Umetrics on chemometrics software alliance

Sartorius has announced a new alliance with Umetrics, a Swedish software company that provides chemometrics software for modeling and optimising biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing processes.

The deal will see Sartorius Stedim Biotech assume global marketing and distribution of the complete Umetrics portfolio for the drug development industry, marketing products as standalone solutions under both brands under a dual labelling arrangement.

These software systems are applied in critical process functions such as cell culture processes or specific purification steps in the biopharmaceutical industry, delivering capabilities such as multivariate data analysis.

Umetrics hopes that the international reach and solid market standing of Sartorius will help bring the benefits of its software to a wider customer base.

Stefan Schlack, senior vice-president of marketing at Sartorius Stedim Biotech, said: "These software solutions will help our customers to better understand their cell culture processes and to identify potential for optimisation and robust process control – an ideal addition to our bioprocess portfolio."

This comes after the firm launched Sartoguard NF, a new range of nanofleece prefilters for use in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, earlier this month.
