Sartorius reports double-digit growth for 2016

Sartorius has announced strong financial results for 2016, during which it delivered a revenue total of 1.3 billion euros (1.12 billion pounds).

This represented a year-on-year increase of 18.2 percent, while the company's earnings also experienced a double-digit increase, jumping by 23.6 percent to 325.4 million euros. All regions recorded double-digit growth rates during the year.

Sartorius was able to grow its workforce by around 12 percent to more than 6,900 employees, while its product portfolio was expanded by acquisitions and the progress made by its comprehensive investment programme.

The companies acquired at mid-2016, IntelliCyt and ViroCyt, contributed about three percentage points to the 7.9 percent sales revenue increase recorded by Sartorius' lab products and services division.

For 2017, the firm is anticipating sales growth of about eight to 12 percent, with profitability also projected to increase further.

Dr Joachim Kreuzburg, chief executive officer at Sartorius, said: "The year 2016 was highly successful for Sartorius, both operationally and strategically."
