Sartorius reports gains in first half of 2010

27th July 2010

Sartorius has announced its financial results for the first half of the current fiscal year, a period which saw the company experience considerable year-on-year growth.

The group’s first-half sales revenue totalled 315.2 million euros (264 million pounds), an increase of 6.3 per cent compared to the first six months of last year, while operating earnings increased by almost 50 per cent.

Its biotechnology business unit played a key role in this growth, with the company seeing strong demand for devices such as bioreactors from pharmaceutical firms in Asia.

Mechatronics division sales also saw a substantial year-on-year increase, which means that Sartorius is now “well on the way” to delivering on its 2010 financial targets.

Sartorius chief executive officer Dr Joachim Kreuzburg said: “It is encouraging that following the highly divergent business pattern of the past year, both divisions are now reporting positive development and have contributed to the strong increase in the group’s profit.”

Earlier this month, Sartorius announced that it will be adding a number of refractometers from Schmidt and Haensch to its product portfolio in order to expand its range of offerings for the pharmaceutical industry.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800006167-ADNFCR
