SCA appoints new SVP for sustainability
SCA has announced the appointment of Kersti Strandqvist as senior vice-president (SVP) of the new corporate staff function for sustainability.
Ms Strandqvist, who is currently SCA’s vice-president for feminine care products in its global hygiene category, will step into her new role on August 1st 2010, where she will report directly to president and chief executive officer Jan Johansson.
She has been employed by SCA since 1997 and has occupied a number of positions in its hygiene division during that time.
Mr Johansson stated that the appointment is indicative of the significant strategic importance of environmental and sustainability issues, which he described as an “integrated part of our operations”.
He added: “Kersti’s experience and expertise will enable us to further advance our position in the corporate social responsibility field and thus strengthen the commercial benefits related to sustainability.”
Last month, the company published its interim report for the first quarter of 2010, announcing a 16 per cent increase in profits compared to the corresponding period of last year.
