Schering-Plough announces Intervet/Schering-Plough executives

14th May 2008

Schering-Plough has appointed its executive team for the group’s global animal health unit in what it says is a “major” step in the combined firm’s design.

The team will be chaired by Ruurd Stolp, who has been appointed senior vice-president and president of animal health and who will report to Fred Hassan, the chairman and chief executive officer of the Schering-Plough group.

Schering-Plough asserted that the changes to the structure of its animal health arm – following the acquisition of Intervet – strengthens its portfolios.

“Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health is not only the world market leader in the production of animal health vaccines but is also one of the world’s leaders in the field of animal health,” the company stated.

Recently, France’s Department for Agriculture and Fishery placed an order with the firm for the inactivated vaccine against Bluetongue, serotype 8.

This is in addition to the UK and Netherlands, which have both ordered the vaccine from Intervet/Schering-Plough.

It has increased production to cope with the demand.
