Schering-Plough releases educational asthma video

26th March 2009

Schering-Plough has collaborated with an educational video to inform asthmatic children about their condition.

The breathing problem is one of the most common chronic illnesses among youngsters and the pharmaceutical company pointed out many parents struggle to approach the issue with their son or daughter.

Allergy & Asthma Network Mothers of Asthmatics (AANMA) ? which worked with the pharmaceutical company to produce the short film ? receives a number of calls from mothers and fathers trying to encourage their children to take their prescriptions.

Nancy Sander, founder and president of the organisation, remarked the video ? Breathless Bethany Buttercup ? provides an ideal platform to discuss the condition within the family, while also being fun and informative.

She remarked: “We’re excited to collaborate with Schering-Plough on the development of an asthma storybook for children.”

Earlier this month, the Food and Drug Administration approved labelling for Schering-Plough’s Pegintron and Rebeltol combination therapy to be used to treat chronic hepatitis C in sufferers aged three-years-old and above.

Dr Robert J Spiegel, chief medical officer and senior vice-president from the company’s research institute, asserted this authorisation highlighted the pharmaceutical company’s commitment in the field.
