Scotland to ‘Urgently’ Review XL Bully Dog Restrictions

11th January 2024

Scotland’s authorities have revealed that they are reassessing their position regarding XL bully dogs due to concerns that dogs are being transported across the border following the upcoming ownership prohibition.

Up to this point, officials at Holyrood have opposed appeals to enforce the policies against XL bullies that are currently being pursued in England and Wales.

Siobhian Brown, chief of community safety, stated that the situation is being assessed and additional information will be provided promptly.

Scotland’s safety minister stated, “The unintended consequence of the UK Government’s policy is that we are now seeing an influx of XL bully dogs to Scotland.”

Brown went on to add, “It is important to ensure that Scotland does not become a safe haven or a dumping ground for XL bully dogs from England and Wales.”
