Security Flaw Detected in Medtronic’s Cyber Software

The amount of security breaches in the healthcare industry is on the rise, having turned into a top target for cybercriminals looking to obtain the patient data. Ransomware, hacking and vulnerabilities in software are three of the major issues in the industry.

Paceart Optima software from Medtronic collects cardiac device information from developers to assist workflows. The software server section of the system is impacted by the cyber security flaw that Medtronic discovered.

The firm disclosed that “Medtronic takes any potential cybersecurity vulnerability in our products or systems very seriously.” they are “committed to a comprehensive, coordinated disclosure process and we continually seek to improve these processes including our technical evaluation, required remediation and speed of disclosure.”
