Sempermed experiences revenue growth in 2009
Sempermed has seen an improvement in business performance in the last year, despite the difficulties faced by its parent company Semperit.
The industrial firm’s medical equipment division recorded revenues of 271.4 million euros (236.2 million pounds) during 2009, which represents an increase of 11.7 per cent compared to last year,
This comes despite the fact that the Semperit group as a whole saw its revenues fall by 10.3 per cent from 2008 to 588.1 million euros, a decline which it attributed to low demand and depressed economic conditions.
Semperit said that demand for Sempermed products had not been affected by the overall economic developments, as well as stating that the group’s finances remain healthy due to its cost-reduction initiatives.
It added: “Although the difficult economic situation will continue in 2010, the management board expects satisfactory results for the 2010 financial year.”
In October 2009, the company expanded its production capacity of Sempermed examination gloves via the establishment of a new manufacturing facility in Thailand.
