Shire launches awards for ADHD patient groups
Shire has announced the launch of the Excellence in ADHD Patient Group Awards, honouring the work of patient organisations supporting people living with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Aimed at recognising outstanding contributions by patient groups in raising awareness of ADHD and helping people and families, the scheme will offer three grants of 10,000 euros (7,980 pounds) for 2013 projects that have offered the most effective support.
Winners will be selected by an international judging panel including representatives from patient organisations, mental health advocates and experts in education. They will look for creative and innovative projects that address unmet needs in ADHD and have a direct and positive impact.
The closing date for entries is August 8th 2014, with winners announced on World Mental Health Day on October 10th.
Brooke Clarke, global head of responsibility and brands at Shire, said: "The Excellence in ADHD Patient Group Awards is one way of recognising the groups that make such a significant difference to the lives of people with ADHD and those who care for them."
This comes after the company announced a new collaboration with arGEN-X earlier this month, focusing on the discovery and development of therapeutic antibodies.
