Shire opens new headquarters in Dublin city centre
Shire has announced the opening of a new office in Ireland at the Miesian Plaza in Dublin city centre.
The Baggot Street site spans 76,000 sq ft and will be the new home of one of Shire's global corporate services teams, which provides support services across the company's global operations in the areas of procurement and finance.
An additional 150 employees will be appointed to join the team at the new headquarters, with approximately 300 Shire employees to be based at Miesian Plaza by the end of June 2017. The space provides the firm with the scope to expand its local operations over time.
Shire is moving its headquarters to the new site from its current location in Citywest, including the local commercial and technical operations employees based there, who will move into Baggot Street in the coming months.
Alan Walshe, general manager for Shire in Ireland, said: "The decision to open our corporate HQ at the Miesian Plaza and last year's announcement of our investment in a state-of-the-art biologics facility at Piercetown in County Meath demonstrates that Ireland remains an important part of Shire's global footprint and future strategy."
Ireland's Taoiseach Enda Kenny and minister for jobs, enterprise and innovation Mary Mitchell O'Connor attended the official opening of the office, alongside leaders from Shire, and hailed the move as a boon for the local economy.
