Siemens Healthcare and RaySearch end partnership
Siemens Healthcare has agreed to end its long-term development and licensing agreement with RaySearch Laboratories, which was originally signed in May 2009.
Under the terms of the partnership deal, RaySearch had been providing a number of treatment planning modules for integration in Siemens' syngo Suite for Oncology, an integrated workflow solution for radiation therapy.
The companies have now mutually decided to terminate the collaboration, resulting in the payment of a one-time fee of around one million euros (810,650 pounds) from Siemens to RaySearch, as well as the provision of certain intellectual property rights.
RaySearch said it expects the earnings impact of this payment to be slightly lower than the total, due to a write-down for the capitalised development costs for software that was developed specifically for Siemens and is not reusable in any other product.
Last month, Siemens announced the expansion of its product range with the release of syngo Ultrasound Breast Analysis, a software application for offline review of images, volumes and clips produced with the Acuson S2000 Automated Breast Volume Scanner and the Acuson S2000 ultrasound system.
