Siemens Healthineers launches new Cios Spin mobile C-arm

27th October 2017

Siemens Healthineers has announced the launch of Cios Spin, a new mobile flat detector C-arm offering numerous potential benefits in medical imaging.

Designed to aid intra-operative 3D imaging during demanding procedures, the device is equipped with state-of-the-art flat panel detector technology, as well as software packages to ensure the efficient integration of 3D imaging into the surgical workflow.

When performing a system collision check before the scan, the software provides step-by-step instructions, while the Screw Scout tool automatically recognises screws in the 3D X-ray image and labels their position, saving time and effort for the surgeon.

Cios Spin offers high generator power to make it easier to scan more solid parts of the body such as the hip, or the more dense tissue in obese patients. It is also the first mobile C-arm on the market to offer an antimicrobial coating to prevent bacteria from multiplying.

Peter Seitz, head of surgery at Siemens Healthineers, said: "Cios Spin will do even more to help our customers improve the quality of their patient care in the future using precision medicine, as well as reducing the additional costs imposed by revision surgery."
