Siemens Healthineers presents new imaging technology at ESC 2016

7th September 2016

Siemens Healthineers has demonstrated the benefits of its latest imaging innovations at the recent annual congress of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).

The company attended the ESC conference in Rome from August 27th to 31st, during which it shared insights into the performance of its integrated imaging portfolio spanning the entire cardiology treatment process.

Siemens demonstrated how its Acuson SC2000 Prime ultrasound system enables real-time 3D heart imaging for the reliable diagnosis of mitral insufficiency, as well as talking through how sensitive patient groups can benefit from the use of dual-source computed tomography (CT) scanners for cardiac CT imaging.

The company also discussed how transesophageal echocardiography techniques can aid more precise diagnoses, citing the positive testimonies it has received from users of the technology.

Cardiology professor Stephane Lafitte of the Hopital Cardiologique CHU in Bordeaux said Siemens technology "enables you to perform valve procedures with more accuracy and more confidence, potentially improving patient safety and outcomes", adding that it is "truly a step forward in technology".
