Siemens Healthineers receives CE Mark approval for Magnetom Terra scanner
Siemens Healthineers has announced that its new 7 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner Magnetom Terra has been approved in Europe.
The device is the first ever ultra-high-field MR scanner to receive CE Mark approval for clinical use. It is designed for neurological and musculoskeletal examinations in routine clinical applications.
Magnetom Terra offers a high spatial and spectral resolution, as well as dual-mode functionality to enable clinical and research applications. It is also designed to be easily integrated into the clinical environment.
This scanner can offer detailed insights into the human musculoskeletal system and a precise view of the metabolic processes in the brain, in addition to aiding the visualisation of neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis.
Dr Christoph Zindel, senior vice-president and general manager of MRI at Siemens Healthineers, said: "I am convinced that Magnetom Terra will help grow the footprint of 7 Tesla in research and clinical application, allowing us to further explore new territories in MRI."
