Siemens Healthineers unveils Symbia Intevo Bold SPECT/CT system

12th June 2017

Siemens Healthineers has introduced Symbia Intevo Bold, a new clinical imaging system that combines computed tomography (CT) and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) capabilities.

The new device, unveiled at the Society of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging annual meeting, is designed to offer lower patient doses, reduced metal artifacts for enhanced detail, and improved image quality via dual-energy scanning.

Key features include the incorporation of the SAFIRE algorithm, which delivers excellent CT image quality while reducing patient radiation doses by as much as 60 percent, and the iMAR3 algorithm, which can curb or eliminate artifact-induced distortion.

The optional interleaved volume reconstruction feature can help to reconstruct overlapping CT images of up to 32 slices to extract the maximum amount of diagnostic information, with single-source dual energy capabilities employing two sequential spiral CT scans operating at different kV levels to combine tissue information with disease morphology.

Jim Williams, head of Siemens Healthineers Molecular Imaging, said: "Symbia Intevo Bold advances the dual-use capabilities of SPECT/CT, enabling exceptional image quality in both forms of imaging at the lowest possible patient dose."
