Siemens Heathineers and HeartFlow to develop new cardiac care solution

17th March 2017

Siemens Heathineers has announced a new collaboration with HeartFlow that aims to develop a new cardiac care solution.

The global collaboration agreement will focus on the development of a comprehensive, noninvasive solution to support the diagnosis and management of patients with suspected coronary artery disease.

This will leverage HeartFlow's expertise in personalised medical technology and Siemens Healthineers' strength in computed tomography (CT), pairing CT scanners from Siemens with the HeartFlow FFRct Analysis tool.

It is hoped that combining coronary CT angiography (cCTA) scans with the fractional flow reserve (FFR) capabilities of HeartFlow FFRct Analysis will offer actionable information to help determine an optimal course of treatment and prevent unnecessary invasive angiograms.

Andre Hartung, head of computed tomography at Siemens Healthineers, said the partnership will "create an integrated solution that combines the exceptional cCTA images acquired by our high-performance scanners with the only commercial product available that can derive FFR analysis noninvasively from CT data".
