Siemens introduces new scanning system for RAPIDPoint 300

28th February 2011

Siemens has upgraded its RAPIDPoint 300 blood gas analyser offering by introducing a simplified scanning system for quality control data.

Utilising barcode technology, the upgraded RAPIDPoint 340/350 devices allow users to scan quality control lot numbers and corresponding mean and standard deviation limits prior to running analysis.

This eliminates the need to input the data manually, a time-consuming process that presents increased opportunity for error, while the device is also able to store the sample data at various levels for 31 days.

In addition, the systems can be configured to reflect region-specific regulatory requirements, such as the RiliBAK quality control analysis method in Europe.

Dr David Stein, chief executive officer for the point-of-care business unit at Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, said: "It is important to continually improve lab efficiencies and processes, particularly in light of the cost containment and staffing challenges clinical laboratories face today."

This month, the company also introduced its new Innovance PFA-200 System, which allows for rapid and reliable testing of platelet dysfunction.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800431720-ADNFCR
