Siemens launches new cancer diagnostic tests

16th November 2010

Siemens has announced the launch of a new selection of assays designed for use in diagnosing cancer via use with the Dimension Vista Intelligent Lab System.

The new LOCI CA 125II, CA 15-3 and CA 19-9 tests have received European CE Mark accreditation and add a number of new markers to the platform for analysis of ovarian, breast and pancreatic cancer.

By utilising the new assays in conjunction with other clinical and diagnostic procedures, the products can be used to monitor disease progression and evaluate levels of response to treatment.

David Hickey, executive vice-president for central laboratory and global research and development at Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, said: "This latest addition to our portfolio provides our customers with a comprehensive test menu of highly sensitive cancer markers on a single integrated chemistry instrument."

Earlier this year, the company released enhanced versions of its RAPIDPoint 400/405 and RAPIDLab 1200 blood gas analysers, which introduced remote-viewing functionality for the technology.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800238281-ADNFCR
