Siemens launches new ETP assay

24th June 2010

Siemens has released a new endogenous thrombin potential (ETP) assay, which can be used in a wide variety of research and diagnostic applications.

The Innovance ETP assay is an automated device which functions with the Siemens BCS and BCS XP systems, allowing for the measurement of haemostatic potential in plasma.

Due to its compatibility with BCS and BCS XP, researchers can perform a variety of routine and specialised tests on samples using a single system as part of their routine testing protocol, with a minimum of operator intervention required.

According to Siemens, ETP assays such as Innovance can be used for applications as varied as predicting recurrence of venous thromboembolism and monitoring patients receiving anticoagulants.

The firm added: “As a CE-marked assay, Innovance ETP can be used for diagnostic procedures as well as for research purposes, providing utility in both diagnostic and research laboratory environments.”

Last week, Siemens launched PRISCA version 5.0, a new version of its prenatal risk calculation software which is designed to be more versatile and accurate.
