Siemens to market radiation therapy solution

Radiation therapy technology designed to provde a portfolio of advanced treatment and image-guided delivery protocols is to enter the market.

Siemens Medical Solutions announced today it had received clearance for marketing and sale of the ARTISTE Solution, which is a linear accelerator specifically engineered for adaptive radiation therapy.

Various elements comprise the package, such as the CTVision diagnostic imaging tool and the MVision Cone Beam, which provides soft-tissue resolution.

A software suite enhances the product and a 550 TxT treatment table is claimed to provide the strength to hold a patient of up to 550 pounds in weight.

“ARTISTE provides both fast, powerful 3-D MV imaging and CT high-contrast imaging to help monitor daily changes and enable precise radiation treatment delivery,” said Holger Schmidt, president of the Oncology Care Systems Division at Siemens Medical Solutions.

Last November saw the company develop a Somatom Definition AS adaptive scanner, which it stated was suitable for all types of medical situations and needs.
