Siemens ultrasound systems help Cheltenham clinic offer better diagnoses
Siemens' Acuson S2000 diagnostic ultrasound system has earned praise from a specialist clinic in Cheltenham that has benefited from improved diagnostic confidence thanks to the device.
The Thirlestaine Breast Centre, a joint venture between Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and medical charity Cobalt Health, recently purchased four of the units to support its breast cancer screening, diagnosis and care services.
Thanks to the new technology, the centre has significantly increased the speed and precision of its biopsy procedures, with abnormal areas standing out more prominently from background breast tissue.
It has been specifically designed for 3D total breast ultrasound scans, which can greatly aid the analysis of heterogeneously or extremely radiographically dense breast tissue.
Meanwhile, staff have adapted quickly to using the systems, specifically offering praise for their intuitive feel and interface.
John Martin, regional sales manager at Siemens Healthcare, said: "We look forward to continuing to support the centre's delivery of high-quality screening, diagnosis and patient care."
