Sigma-Aldrich appoints VP for SAFC contract manufacturing

8th October 2010

Sigma-Aldrich's SAFC division has appointed Mark Cassidy as vice-president (VP) for its contract manufacturing operations.

Mr Cassidy, who has been employed at the company since January 2009, has been serving in his new role since September 20th 2010 and is reporting directly to SAFC president Gilles Cottier from the company's facility in Cambridge.

SAFC's contract manufacturing activities involve the production of large and small molecules, with the business having been expanded in recent years thanks to Mr Cassidy, who was employed as its director of global sales and marketing.

His previous employers include Merck Sharpe and Dohme, for which he worked as a medicinal chemist at the company's neuroscience research centre in Harlow.

Mr Cottier said: "Mark will aim his considerable talents at developing and maximising the market potential for SAFC's unique manufacturing capabilities and help us deliver on our promise to provide unique problem-solving solutions to global customers."

Last month, Sigma-Aldrich announced that it has been contracted to supply oligonucleotides to Research Councils UK via its Sigma Life Sciences division.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800106526-ADNFCR
