Sigma-Aldrich division launches new Prestige Antibodies

24th November 2010

Sigma-Aldrich's biological products and services unit Sigma Life Science has added 1,700 new offerings to its Prestige Antibodies portfolio.

As with other products in the collection, each of the new antibodies is supported by more than 700 immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and Western blot images, with data for each item publicly available via the Human Protein Atlas.

It brings the total number of antibodies in the range – which is offered in conjunction with Atlas Antibodies – to more than 10,000, covering a total of 8,400 protein targets.

Sigma Life Science's efforts to expand this collection are being conducted as part of the Swedish Human Proteome Resource programme, the aim of which is to develop an antibody for all non-redundant human proteins by 2015.

Becki Davis, product manager for antibodies at Sigma Life Science, said: "The addition of these new Prestige Antibodies continues to expand Sigma's antibody portfolio, providing researchers with reliable antibody products for more protein targets and more applications."

Earlier this month, Sigma-Aldrich announced that Rakesh Sachdev will become its new president and chief executive officer following the death of Dr Jai Nagarkatti.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800254247-ADNFCR
