Sigma-Aldrich launches new materials offering for diagnostics manufacture

18th March 2011

Sigma-Aldrich has announced the launch of a new offering of raw materials and custom manufacturing services for the creation of diagnostic products.

The science company's SAFC division has launched the new services to meet the needs of clients involved in the production of point-of-care diagnostic devices, including self-test and over-the-counter kits.

Raw materials will be supplied for use in manufacturing products such as urinary protein and creatinine assays, glucose monitoring devices and systems for continuous diabetes monitoring.

This will help to address industry concerns over security of supply and expand the SAFC business unit's market-leading presence in this market.

George Crowell, SAFC's diagnostics segment manager, said: "We envisage that … our customisation capabilities combined with our unique approach to creating customer-tailored solutions will prove to be key differentiators as we look to become the leading single-source supplier to these markets."

Last month, the company announced its fourth quarter financial results, reporting a new record three-month sales total for the period.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800468289-ADNFCR
