Sigma-Aldrich maintains business growth in second quarter

26th July 2010

Sigma-Aldrich has highlighted its success in promoting business growth in the second quarter of the current fiscal year.

The life sciences firm’s reported sales grew by six per cent during the three-month period to $554 million (357.6 million pounds), while earnings maintained the growth seen in the first quarter.

According to the company’s latest quarterly report, research initiatives in analytical, biology and materials science all contributed to this overall improvement, as did strong sales in Europe.

The firm now expects to meet its forecasts of achieving a mid-single digit increase in organic sales across the 2010 full-year period.

Jai Nagarkatti, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Sigma-Aldrich, said: “We are very pleased with this performance that drove our increase in diluted earnings per share for the first half of 2010 to 18 per cent.”

Last month, Sigma-Aldrich subsidiary SAFC announced the launch of ProClin B-119, a ready-to-use solution-based biocide which is designed for use in medical testing.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800005346-ADNFCR
