Sigma-Aldrich subsidiary SAFC launches new biocide
Sigma-Aldrich subsidiary SAFC has launched a ready-to-use solution-based biocide which is intended for application in medical testing.
The company’s new ProClin B-119 is a formaldehyde-free biocide which provides stability and reliability for in-vitro diagnostic reagents, while also being environmentally safe.
It has been designed to offer control over microorganisms in a variety of “challenging” formulation conditions, functioning at a wide range of pH and temperature specifications.
George Crowell, SAFC’s diagnostics segment manager, said the biocide will fulfil the needs of researchers seeking a product which is “safe, efficient and effective for their diagnostics research”.
He added: “This addition, offered exclusively through SAFC, extends the company’s diverse product portfolio for the rapidly-expanding medical diagnostics market.”
Last week, the company revealed that it will be creating a new centre of excellence at its site in Irvine, Scotland, in order to expand its liquid cell culture reagents supply capabilities to meet the needs of the biopharmaceutical sector.
