Sigma-Aldrich to distribute NIST standard reference materials
Sigma-Aldrich has become the first licensed distributor of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) range of standard reference materials (SRMs).
The 1,300-strong SRM range are used to perform instrument calibrations and measurement validation to verify the accuracy of specific measurements and support the development of new measurement methods.
As part of the deal, Sigma-Aldrich and NIST will also collaborate to develop new SRMs for quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance applications.
This move helps Sigma-Aldrich to further expand its global analytical product line, with the portfolio expected to become available through the organisation in the third quarter of 2015.
Trevor Jones, vice-president of the analytical business at Sigma-Aldrich, said: "Adding the SRM portfolio to our web-based marketplace offers customers convenient access to a comprehensive range of products for the entire analytical workflow."
Earlier this week, the firm agreed a deal with XCell Science to launch a line of genetically-engineered neural differentiated cells and accompanying culture media, developed to advance the research of neurological diseases.
