Simplyhealth makes donation to Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank

8th July 2014

Simplyhealth has provided a donation of 1,000 pounds to the Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank, a charity that supplies food parcels for underprivileged people in the local area.

A small registered charity run entirely by volunteers, the organisation receives contributions of nonperishable foods such as tins, cartons and jars from the community and small businesses, which are then collected by organisations to be distributed to vulnerable populations.

It regularly sends out more than 800 food parcels per month, with Simplyhealth's donation allowing the charity to provide an additional 350 parcels to the needy.

Raman Sankaran, spokesperson for Simplyhealth, said: "Volunteers at Bradford Food Bank are a great example of how people give up their time, money and skills to come together to help those that need it in their local community."

Simplyhealth has active community funds in five of its locations – Andover, Bristol, Leeds, Letchworth and Manchester.

Last month, it provided support for the Samaritans, St Ann's Hospice, the Leeds-based support network Sunshine and Smiles and Manchester charity group Moodswings.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801734057-ADNFCR
