Simplyhealth provides charity donation to Leeds Mencap

20th September 2013

Simplyhealth has agreed to provide its local brand of the mental health charity Mencap in Leeds with a donation of 1,045 pounds.

The money will be used to purchase essential new equipment for the charity's younger members to help them during the new school term, furthering Mencap's mission of helping people and their families living with learning disabilities.

According to the charity, much of the equipment it currently uses tends to be worn out fairly quickly, making it important that it receives funding to replace them.

Simplyhealth has active community funds in five of its locations – Leeds, Andover, Bristol, Letchworth and Manchester – to support charities and organisations in the local community.

Raman Sankaran, spokesperson for Simplyhealth, said: "We are delighted to offer our support. Leeds Mencap has been running for sixty years and continues to do a fantastic job for people with learning difficulties in the local community."

Earlier this month, the company announced the appointment of Ben Kent – formerly of PricewaterhouseCoopers and Bupa – as its new executive director of finance.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801640178-ADNFCR
