Sirona and CA Digital announce technology compatibility partnership

Sirona has announced a new partnership with CA Digital that will provide greater compatibility between their technology offerings.

Through this partnership, users of Sirona's Cerec technology, which creates digital impressions for orthodontic indications, can be sent directly to CA Digital, a specialist in the digital fabrication of orthodontic appliances.

CA Digital can then handle the planning of orthodontic treatments and producing the required appliances, making it possible for Cerec users to digitally plan the entire process from the impression to the finished product.

To ensure the process is as seamless as possible, a dedicated CA Digital button has been added in the export phase of the Cerec Ortho software. By streamlining the process in this way, treatment can begin much sooner.

Roddy MacLeod, vice-president for CAD/CAM Systems at Sirona, said: "With CA Digital, we have found a partner who supports a fully digital workflow that brings value to the clinician and patient alike."

The company continues to press ahead with its merger with Dentsply, which passed a key regulatory milestone this week with the expiry of the US Hart-Scott-Rodino waiting period.
