Sirona develops DVT models

15th April 2009

Sirona has developed an X-ray product for dental offices that are not focused on intraoral surgeries.

As the world of medicine is moving into three-dimensional (3D) technologies, the company asserted its latest development would be beneficial for professionals who do not perform a large number of implants.

The Orthophos XG 5 and XG Plus – two DVT models produced by the firm ? are intended for use by these dentists so they do not have to rely on flat images.

Allowing implants to be planned by the click of a button, the 5.5 cm diameter cylinder allows up to three products to be designed adjacently to each other.

Sirona commented: “The image quality and resolution of the 3D exposures will also be sufficient for use in endodontic applications, which broadens the basis for system use considerably.”

Module upgrades for the two named devices will be available by the end of 2010, the company concluded.

Last month, the dental equipment manufacturer announced the launch of its inLab 3D Stack software, which can be used for all zirconia and aluminium oxide blocks.
