Sirona wins red dot award for Cerec Omnicam

27th August 2013

Sirona Dental Systems has announced that its Cerec Omnicam intraoral scanner has earned a 2013 red dot award for product design.

The device earned the prestigious accolade after judges picked it ahead of more than 4,600 other competing entries, recognising its technically outstanding nature and the quality of the work carried out by Sirona and its partner Puls Design.

Cerec Omnicam allows dentists to take a digital impression of the patient's teeth, capturing full-colour images without the need for prior coating with powder or spray.

This latest accolade comes after the device earned an iF product design award in February 2013.

Dr Frank Thiel, director of development for 3D measurement technology at Sirona, said: "Combining function and design is a major challenge. We are very happy that we have been so successful with the Omnicam."

Earlier this month, it was announced that the company has appointed Ulrich Michel as its new chief financial officer and executive vice-president, effective from October 14th 2013.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801629739-ADNFCR
