Sirona’s CEREC range to add Invisalign compatibility

12th March 2015

Sirona has announced that its CEREC Omnicam and new CEREC Ortho Software can soon be used to submit digital impressions for Invisalign clear aligner therapy for the first time.

This new arrangement has been made possible through cooperation with Align Technology, the creator of the Invisalign range. It comes as part of a wider effort by Sirona to expand its focus to include orthodontic treatment.

CEREC Ortho SW 1.1's patent-pending guided scanning process allows for a seamless digital impression submission, with orthodontic treatment planned in the Invisalign treatment process using the digital impression data.

Digital models created from CEREC Omnicam intraoral data are transferred to Align Technology and used as part of the record submission for an Invisalign treatment, thus eliminating the manual process of creating and sending physical impressions.

Jeffrey Slovin, president and chief executive officer of Sirona, said: "Today's announcement is another example of our strategy to provide best-in-class products and customer support, as we integrate the market leader in clear aligner treatment into the CEREC world."

This comes after the firm recently announced that it will be collaborating with Dentsply and VDW to integrate endodontic instruments into its Teneo treatment centres.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801779485-ADNFCR
