Smith and Nephew launches Durafiber Ag antimicrobial dressing

19th December 2013

Smith and Nephew has announced the launch of Durafiber Ag, a highly absorbent non-woven gelling fibre dressing, in European markets.

Offering a versatile solution for the management of medium to heavily exuding chronic and acute wounds, the dressing provides the antimicrobial action of silver and remains strong when wet, a key attribute in the treatment of deeper wounds.

Its composition has been optimised for clean, one-piece dressing removal, effective exudate management and high levels of patient comfort, while its anti-shrinkage properties allows wounds to be treated efficiently.

Originally launched in the US in September 2013, the product is available now in the EU and will also be sold in other territories in the near future.

Frans Cromme, senior vice-president for advanced wound care at Smith and Nephew, said: "I'm delighted that patients will now be able to benefit from the effectiveness of this new dressing with its high absorbency and proven clinical outcomes."

This comes after the firm helped to raise awareness of pressure ulcers across the UK to mark Worldwide Stop Pressure Ulcer Day last month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801674640-ADNFCR
