Smith and Nephew launches new Trigen Meta-Tan system
Smith and Nephew has announced the launch of its new Trigen Meta-Tan system for the treatment of femoral fractures.
The trochanteric antegrade nail system was unveiled at the Orthopaedic Trauma Association's annual meeting in San Diego and offers a versatile design that addresses a wide range of fractures, ranging from specific hip fractures to mid-shaft breaks and fractures near the knee.
It incorporates the company's unique dual integrated screw design to gain and maintain compression of the proximal femur, with the thinner size of the new nail also benefitting patients with narrow femoral canals.
Moreover, the variable bow of the nail provides versatile options for varying patient anatomy, while the multi-planar screw configuration allows for optimum fracture stability.
Dr Daniel Chan of Georgia Orthopaedic Trauma Institute said: "Meta-Tan is an excellent solution, as it does not require much bone removal with its smaller proximal body, while offering recon compression capability when desired."
