Smith and Nephew launches shortened Endobutton fixation device

23rd October 2012

Smith and Nephew has introduced a new Endobutton continuous loop fixation device for use in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery.

The 10 mm Endobutton product is the shortest ever continuous loop suture and addresses the challenges posed by the smaller femoral tunnels used in the anatomic technique for ACL repair.

Moreover, it is also appropriate for use with other techniques for arthroscopic keyhole-style knee repairs, including the traditional transtibial approach.

Specific benefits of the Endobutton product family include the fact it is pre-threaded with Smith and Nephew's proprietary continuous loop of suture, making it one of the strongest soft tissue femoral fixation devices available.

Romeo Catracchia, vice-president for joint repair at Smith and Nephew, said the Endobutton range, in combination with its other offerings, "present surgeons with complete options for performing a wide variety of anatomic ACL reconstructions".

This comes after the manufacturer introduced its new Legion HK hinge knee implant in the US and Canada last month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801474481-ADNFCR
