Smith and Nephew retains place in FTSE4Good index

23rd January 2018

Smith and Nephew has announced that it has once again been included in the latest FTSE4Good index, a leading report for responsible investors.

The index is designed to identify companies that demonstrate strong environmental, social and governance practices, as measured against international standards. It identifies companies that are best at managing these risks, and is used as a basis for tracker funds, structured products and as a performance benchmark.

Smith and Nephew has retained its membership of the index following a December 2017 index review, with the company scoring strongly in all categories, particularly in terms of its continued commitment towards sustainable operations.

This means the company has now retained its membership for a 17th consecutive year, having been a member of the index since 2001.

Olivier Bohuon, chief executive officer of Smith and Nephew, said: "We have recognised that sustainability is part of who we are as an organisation and we cannot be successful without a core commitment to societal and environmental wellbeing."
